How to measure your wrist for a bracelet

A bracelet should feel right, not tight. A minute with a piece of string will get you the right size.

Here are the steps.

Measure your wrist

Wrap a soft tape around your wrist just below the bone. If you do not have one, use string and a ruler.

Write the number in inches. The same string works for necklaces, such as the birth flower name necklace.

Add some ease

Add about half an inch for a snug fit, or an inch for a looser one. That is the chain length you want.

Our link chain bracelet is adjustable, about 6.5 in plus a 2 in extender, so it covers a range.

Check before you buy

Compare your number with the bracelet on the page. Sizes are not exchanged, so measure first.

Once you have it, see our charm bracelet guide for adding charms to a bracelet.

If you are between sizes

If your number falls between two sizes, set the bracelet to the longer length. A chain that has room to move looks relaxed and is easier to put on. Measure at the end of the day, then once more in the morning, and use the average. Write the number down so you remember it for future gifts.
