Necklace lengths explained
4 min read ยท Petal Charms

A necklace length is easy to guess wrong when you cannot try it on. A few simple facts make it much easier.
Here is what our lengths mean in everyday terms.
How lengths sit
A chain of about 16 in sits close to the collarbone. An 18 in chain sits a little lower, and a 20 in chain sits near the top of the chest.
Every body is different, so these are guides, not rules. Necks, collars and necklines all change the look.
How to pick between lengths
Our birth flower name necklace comes in 15 in, 18 in and 20 in. The heart initial necklace comes in four lengths from 14 to 22 in.
Try the shorter lengths with a scoop or crew neckline and the longer ones with a V-neck.
How to measure
Lay a piece of string around your neck where you would like the chain to sit. Mark it, then measure it against a ruler.
Then check the product page for the lengths on offer and pick the closest one. If you are between two lengths, the longer one is easier to put on, and the shorter one sits closer to the neck. Write down the length you choose, so you can find the same fit again for the next gift.
